P.S. Be sure to scroll down and see our new mascot, Corporal Lawton Webster Barnes. Check back for updates on his adventures!
Our exhibit focuses on the experience of the common Civil War soldier and his loved ones at home. Our "homespun" displays feature never published images, and letters, and an eclectic collection of memorabilia. Unique!
Ed Bearss was here! ************* In 2004, we raised enough donations to preserve one acre of the White Oak Road battlefield! (March 31, 1865) In 2005, we helped the CWPT preserve Champion Hill, Mississippi
In 2006, we contributed the Margie Riddle Bearss Memorial fund. **************
Come see our display on the "St. Albans Raid" (the Northernmost action of the Civil War) which took place less than 25 miles from here! All exhibits are free of charge; any donations received will go to benefit battlefield and flag preservation.
"Follow the Drinking Gourd"
This display features Vermont abolitionists and noted Underground Railroad conductors, with emphasis on our family's own "Peg Leg Joe", Joseph St. Lawrence, born 1828 in St. Ours, Quebec, Canada.
